In 1993, a convicted murderer was executed. His body was given to science, segmented, and photographed for medical research. In 2011, we used photography to put it back together.

Such is the introduction for 12:31, an honestly somewhat freaky series of photographs by Croix Gagnon and Frank Schott. They used long exposures and an animation of cadaver slices to add apparitions to abandoned scenes at night. Above is one of the results; click the image to see the rest.

This is a picture of Typeface, a Marvel Comics character. His origin story, as told by his Wikipedia article:

Gordon starts to hate everything that went wrong in his life and decides to become a super-villain, calling himself Typeface. He uses a grease pencil to write letters on his face, including a large, red “R” on his forehead, for “retribution”. He begins committing vandalism throughout the city, and while attacking local thugs, he catches the attention of Spider-Man. Typeface uses his giant letters as weapons and manages to defeat the webslinger. After successfully escaping and returning to his apartment, he replaces the “R” letter on his head with an “A” for “Annihilation”.

Thomas later seeks revenge against George Finch, but is stopped by Spider-Man. Typeface wants to kill Spider-Man for intervening, but when he sees the webslinger being attacked by the Spider-Hybrid, he has a flashback to the words his brother Joey once gave him: “Just live, man.” Typeface decides to help Spider-Man defeat the Spider-Hybrid, and renounces his desire to kill Finch.

Naturally a guy with this badass a gimmick needs to have badass powers, and The Appendix to the Handbook of the Marvel Universe gives a rundown:

Powers/Abilities: Typeface is a highly skilled, military-trained combatant, with particular expertise in explosives and melee combat. He is remarkably strong and agile, for his age. He also wields a number of letter-themed weapons, including edged and bludgeoning weapons shaped like giant letters, bombs shaped like letter blocks, and knockout gas-emitting Scrabble tiles.
