You know what I can’t get enough of? Well, yes, Pixar flicks, but right now I’m talking about old time jazz guitar. We’re going way back to the swing and big band days, the ’30s and ’40s, when the guitar started coming out from the rhythm section and into the limelight. There’s just something about the phrasing and tone of folks like Charlie Christian that never fails to get my toes tapping.

Here’s Django Reinhardt slinging some electric guitar on “Honeysuckle Rose” with Duke Ellington and his Orchestra. Django played the electric? Oh yes he did. Fabulously, because he’s Django goddamn Reinhardt.
