Beck Day here on Nullary Sources wouldn’t be complete without posting the greatest Beck video of all time. Here’s Beck and crew performing “Where It’s At” on the Bravo! Canada television show Live at the Rehearsal Hall in 2006. Highlights include:

  • keyboardist Brian LeBarton fooling with terrible Casio presets through the whole thing, causing Beck to miss lyrics at two points;
  • LeBarton and bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen committing “sitcom bass” and other musical crimes;
  • Beck’s guitar strap breaking during the second chorus; and
  • the entire laser beam/rave section.

The hilarious improvisation cracks me up every single time.

In 2002, The Flaming Lips & Beck appeared on Austin City Limits (seemingly in support of Beck’s new album Sea Change). I honestly really don’t know how to describe what transpires next aside to say that I can certainly understand why they didn’t tour together for very much longer. (Skip ahead to 2:45 if you’re an impatient bastard.)
