Fantastic diagram accompanying a fantastic article by Ethan Hein on one of my favorite rap acts of all time, Eric B & Rakim.
Hein touches on the group’s enduring minimalist sound, which is what drew me to them originally — I first heard the Coldcut remix of “Paid in Full” in a DJ mix in college and immediately tracked down the full remix, and then the original track and so on.
